Abigail Hamwada is a design leader with 12 years experience applying Human-Centred Design to develop contextually appropriate product, service, and systems innovations in Africa, Europe and Asia. She currently serves as the Managing Director at Design without Borders Africa, where she leads multidisciplinary teams to co-create community-driven solutions that improve health, safety, and livelihoods for under-served populations.
About
Abigail attained a degree in Architecture from Makerere University (BSc) with Honors, and further training in Urban Ecological Planning (UEP) through the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). In 2020, she co-founded YigaPlay Limited, a company that develops african-rooted educational tools that enhance early learning and development for children across Sub-Saharan Africa. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors at ACLAIM Africa, one of Africa’s leading Management and Leadership Consulting fi rms. She is a proud wife and mother of 2 children.
