What you do (less than 2 sentences) My name is Louise Hackett and I am now entering the field of design after my Product Design BSc degree. Good design solves a need that improves quality of life not standard of living; that is my personal design ethos guiding my work.

About

Background: I have a BSc (Honours) in Product Design, graduated with honors in 2026. My final year project Shake Shelter addressed dog anxiety of shelter adopted dogs through an anxiety release wearable. Interests: I believe that integral to good design is a human centered design mindset. My passion is to design broadly within the field of social causes. I am drawn to designing for social causes because I desire to improve quality of life, and I believe this group is especially deserving of design to solve problems. I explore my creativity outside of designing as well. I enjoy making handicrafts for use in daily life; using mediums like punch needling and working with beads. I have a small Instagram business (@louloldesigns on Instagram) where I sell my crafting. Selling my crafting allows me to work on transferrable skills for product design; these include camera work and displaying my work visually with appropiate signage and interacting with customers. What I am working on Most recent project: Shake Shelter (final year project): I show my ethos and mindset throughout my work, my final year product Shake Shelter exhibits this best. Designing Shake Shelter I got to work with those in the shelter dog community and through this strengthen my human centered design mindset. Shake Shelter solves the need of improving quality of life for shelter adopted dogs and their owners through reducing dog anxiety, this shows my design ethos within my work.
