Caitlin MacLaren
Currently working as a Freelance Health and Medical Content Writer, but keen to diversify into other areas of interest and expand . Aside from writing, I am hugely passionate about conducting research (for example, scholarly, qualitative, and quantitative), as well as generally delving into topics surrounding physiology and human behaviour. Interests have expanded into design from various perspectives, including visual, industrial, interior, spatial, and architectural. My ultimate goal is to combine my passion for health and wellness with design, in some capacity. I am also equally interested in insights and trend analysis.
In terms of the research aspect, during my undergraduate degree, I was required to take a number of compulsory research methods modules. These included an introduction to various statistical techniques, their use in research design, and justification in the context of the Social Sciences. Other aspects included experimental methodology and statistics, data coding techniques, and analysis. The research process within Sport and Exercise Science was also explored, from design, analysis (via SPSS), and interpretation, to report writing. I also covered psychology from health, exercise, and sporting perspectives. Biomechanics was another subject area studied during my undergraduate degree.
In relation to skills, I possess strong research abilities, in addition to technical, medical, and scientific writing. I also have a keen eye for detail and enjoy applying analytical, critical, and conceptual thinking skills, as well as problem-solving. I enjoy enhancing my knowledge, and am quick to pick up new software, whether that’s CMS such as WordPress or a vector graphics editor, for example, Inkscape.
Regarding services on offer, working on a freelance basis, I am open to any suitable opportunities; however, my main services include: Technical Writing (including Medical and Scientific), UX Writing, Report Writing, Research, in addition to Collaborative Projects such as visual, product, and service design. Data entry and analysis is also another service I am willing to offer, as well as administrative assistance if needed.
