The field of Human Centered Design (HCD) has never been more essential—or more dispersed. Designers, researchers, strategists, and change-makers around the world are doing important work to create more inclusive, accessible, and effective services. Yet, despite this shared mission, many of us are still working in silos, disconnected from peers who face similar challenges, ask the same questions, and hold a shared sense of purpose.
That’s why we’re launching the Human Centered Design Directory—a free, global directory designed to connect HCD practitioners with one another across borders, sectors, and disciplines.
This initiative is rooted in one clear goal: connection.
By making it easier to find people based on region, area of practice, or shared interests, we aim to help foster micro-communities—spaces where people can share ideas, collaborate on meaningful work, and build support networks that last. Whether you’re a design researcher in Nairobi, a service designer in Toronto, or a UX strategist in Buenos Aires, you should be able to find and connect with others who “get it.”
We believe that when we’re better connected, we’re more resilient, more impactful, and more hopeful about the future of our work.
In our first release, you’ll be able to:
This is just the beginning. Future releases will include featured projects, local event listings, and opportunities for mentorship and cross-disciplinary exchange.
We’re inviting you to be part of the founding group of practitioners who help shape this directory from the start. Your feedback, presence, and participation will help us make it more useful and inclusive over time.
