Australia

Carly is passionate about the power of joining up creativity and problem-solving to address human challenges, especially in low-resource contexts. She's an experienced strategic designer and design researcher, with over a decade of experience working across the international development and humanitarian sector. After facilitating HCD workshops and capability building initiatives across Harvard University during her time in graduate school there, she worked across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Asia-Pacific region delivering HCD projects for international donors and international nonprofits.

Simply put, Carly believes in a world where every person is able to live a healthy, fulfilled life. She's spent the last 10+ years living and working all over the world as a strategic designer in a social impact consultancy. From the sands of Somalia to the shores of Fiji, Carly's spent time with low-resource communities to understand their challenges and co-design tailored solutions with and for them. These solutions ranged from service and product solutions, behavioural change interventions, process improvements, organisational strategies and more. Her clients have included UNICEF, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The World Bank and more. Carly's projects stretched across a variety of sectors, including but not limited to maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, sustainable agriculture, humanitarian innovation, financial inclusion and more. Through this work, Carly discovered firsthand the power of joining commercial success and social impact. She's since been leading a new venture, With & For, in which she works closely with businesses who are seeking to create or expand their impact in the world. Carly's a Harvard-educated designer, published anthropologist and proud TEDx alum. She's also an Alabama native, self-proclaimed Francophile, and taco enthusiast.

I work as freelance project manager for international organisations(EU, UN).As a result of my passion for Service Design, I’ve developed a parallel career in this field, to either run service design projects or enrich my practice as a project manager. The combination of both allows me to bridge the gap between strategy and implementation, leveraging my understanding of how organizations operate to ensure that innovative solutions are not only well-designed but also feasible and impactful in their implementation.
